The private-funding thermometer rose by $13,255 in December, bringing the sum for the year to $177,257 or 114.9% of the goal.

Annual-fund campaign contributions of more than $11K provided the biggest boost. Results also included $600 in general donations (including the donation box), roughly $500 from the Friends’ Book Nook, and approx. $550 from cash receipts (printing, fines, damaged/lost items, etc.).

Thanks to your generous donations and the tireless efforts of the Friends of EPL all year, results exceeded the target of $154,180. This figure, which is set at the start of the year, is a projection of the gap between what the library will receive from public sources (state and local) and the projected operating budget.

The additional funds help by addressing any increase in the gap due to inflation or higher utilities costs that occur over the year. Secondly, they help with capital expenses (i.e., building, grounds, fixtures, furnishings, equipment and technology), since the library would not have to draw as much from its capital account to cover those costs.

2026 funding outlook

We’re happy to announce that all three local municipalities served by EPL have committed to funding the library in 2026. We appreciate their continued support.

Funding from the Commonwealth of PA rose slightly for 2026. The combined state and local funding cover approximately 66% of EPL’s budget, with private funding responsible for the remaining 33%.

The private-funding goal for 2026 is $153,982. Check back next month for January results. In the meantime, you can support the library by purchasing tickets for Tee Time, making a one-time or recurring donation, or shopping at the Friends of EPL Book Nook in the library.

Thank you for your support!
