Join us to discuss Lady Tan’s Circle of Women by Lisa See in the Margaret Knoll Gardner Lecture Room.
Set in 15th century China, this is a fictional account of the life of Tan Yunxian, a woman who became a practicing doctor in China at a time it was extremely rare and severely frowned upon, and who subsequently published a book of medical cases in 1511 — the oldest known medical book written by a woman in China.
