When did you know you were an artist?
I’ve always been creative in some way…drawing, fiber art, upcycling, scrapbooking and making my own greeting cards and Christmas ornaments.

When and why did you decide to pursue art as a career?
In my previous life, I was a working single mom of 3, so the only time I could be creative was in the evenings, after all the responsibilities were taken care of. I’m lucky enough to have–in this phase of my life–a supportive husband and situation where I’m able to focus on art full time.

What’s been your hardest challenge?
My hardest challenge was creating and perfecting my art for gallery and exhibition purposes. Lots of learning and growing was needed.

What successes or achievements are you most proud of?
Last year, I was over the moon to have a piece of mine sell out of a gallery exhibition. I was beyond proud of this achievement and validation.

What’s your advice for anyone who wants to explore art or creativity, but can’t seem to find the time?
There is time, always, for art…just manage your other activities…or  incorporate a creative endeavor while you’re seeing to your other responsibilities.

What’s your advice when an artist is intimidated by a blank canvas?
A blank canvas is often a state of mind. Just take a brush or pastel and run it over the blank canvas. Let your intuition free; no thought. It’ll be a guide.

Feel free to add anything else you’d like to share with readers about yourself or your art.
The biggest hurdle I’ve had to overcome was myself…thinking that I was not good enough because I’m self-taught and never went to art school. Trying and trying, constantly learning, will build confidence and lead to success.
