The Emmaus Public Library receives approximately two thirds of its annual operating funds from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the three municipalities it serves — Emmaus Borough, Macungie Borough, and Upper Milford Township.
The other third must come from ‘private funding sources’ throughout the year — including generous donors, patrons and sponsors — as well as the Friends of the Emmaus Public Library, which contributes roughly ten percent. The library’s annual fund campaign each fall, plus a spring fundraiser—Tee Time at the Library—are also key components of our private funding.
A private-funding target is set at the start of each year—currently $153,982 for 2026. This target is a projection of the gap between what the library will receive from public sources (state and local) and the projected operating budget.
